Who we are

Board of Directors

The current Board members of Bristol Pound CIC are a mixture of exec, non-exec directors, two of which are directly elected by our members to represent individuals and businesses.

Ben Heald
Ben Heald
Business Member Representative
I studied psychology at Bristol University, qualified as an accountant with KPMG, founded digital media company Sift in 1996 (based in Bristol with 150 staff), a trustee of Bristol’s music venue St George’s and Chairman of eFiling Limited. I’m passionate about Bristol; eg a vocal supporter for the yes campaign for an elected mayor in 2012, and a devoted advocate for Bristol Pound: giving Sift staff Bristol Pound rewards, offering staff £B11 for £10 from Sift’s £B ‘cash machine’, regularly naming and shaming restaurants on Twitter that don’t accept £B, and bringing Bristol Pound up in business conversations wherever possible.
Ciaran Mundy
Ciaran Mundy
Director, Chief Executive Officer
Ciaran Mundy is currently a Director at Transition Bristol Ltd. and previously a successful business entrepreneur in the telecoms and property sectors. He trained and worked as a research scientist in soil ecology and was a founding director of One World Wildlife which supports conservation, campaigning, education and research projects in the UK and overseas winning the 2010 Vincent Weir Scientific Award. Ciaran’s combination of interests led him to study economics with a focus on the role of money and banking in determining the type of economy we live in. He wants his current work to support the development of a fair, diverse, sustainable economy through more widespread involvement and local ownership.
Conan Wills
Conan Wills
Individual Member Representative
I am a Bristol resident of 15 years and user of Bristol Pounds since March 2013. At that time I was thinking a lot about sustainability and joined when I got excited about improving the local economy through the currency. I am an IT professional and I exclusively use ‘text to pay’ when spending my Bristol Pounds. With the continuing increase in use of electronic payments I think that technology has to be the way to get the Bristol Pound into more pockets and ultimately achieve the sustainability it needs. I would like to support that agenda as a member of the board.
